* I’m not saying everyone should take these supplements I’m saying if you need one of these (aka they have been recommended to you by a dietitian or doctor ) these are the ones I recommend.
*Fish oil is often known as snake oil because there are so many low quality brands out there that don’t have high amounts of EPA and DHA in them (which are the actual anti inflammatory active components). Also many aren’t kept in dark bottles protecting them from going bad and then you get rancid products on the shelf.
Here are some of the benefits of a good quality fish oil:
- Improves heart health
- Reduces inflammation
- Boosts brain function and memory
- Reduces the risk of some cancers
- Improves eye health
- Helps with depression and anxiety
- Improves bone health
- Reduces the risk of autoimmune diseases
It’s beneficial for most people but It’s not for everyone including those on blood thinners, with fish allergies, following a vegan diet or have heart arrhythmias.

2. It may interact with certain medications.
3. It may cause dehydration if not taken with enough water.
4. It may not be suitable for people with kidney problems.
