Open Positions
Research Assistants Masters or undergraduate students with a strong background in Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology or Molecular Biology should inquire about a possible research assistant position. Please send a cover letter and CV to Dr. Henaff for consideration. Your cover letter should outline with specific details why you are a fit for our group.
Current openings:
Bioinformatics for Environmental Metagenomics
Molecular Biology for Environmental Metagenomics
Postdoctoral Fellows We have one fully funded position open for recent PhD graduates to join the lab to work in metagenomics and urban studies. All relevant backgrounds are of interest as we are an interdisciplinary lab. To apply, please email a CV, and a letter of interest. Your letter should outline with specific details why you are a fit for our group.
PhD Students We are always interested in motivated PhD students.
At LLI we are an interdisciplinary lab and as such, we accept PhD students within various departments at NYU Tandon School of Engineering:
Civil and Urban Engineering
Urban Systems
Chemical and Biological Engineering
Computer Science and Engineering
Successful candidates will be accepted into one of the above departments, and perform their research projects within the LLI advised by Dr. Henaff, with opportunities for co-advising with another faculty member at Tandon.
Bioinformatics PhD student
We are seeking a PhD student with a prior degree in CS, mathematics, bioinformatics, environmental engineering or biology to contribute to the computational research in the lab.
Approaches are mainly based on next-generation sequencing analysis (Illumina short read whole genome sequencing, PacBio / Nanopore long read whole genome or targeted sequencing) including species classification, metabolic analysis, and associated statistical methods.
Biology and Design PhD student
We are seeking a PhD student with a prior degree in environmental engineering, biology, biotechnology, architecture or design to contribute to the design research in the lab.
Approaches are mainly based on molecular methods, microbial culture, design and fabrication.
Independently of the approach, PhD topics would include but are not limited to ongoing projects such as investigating the microbiome of a SuperFund site, the impact of flooding, green wall infrastructure and aerobiomes as seen by honeybees.
Please send an email with CV and letter of interest before applying. Your letter should outline with specific details why you are a fit for our group.
